I applied late December 2011 for Fall 2012 admission as a Nuclear Engineer. I was wondering who else applied to UF's college of engineering?

AWESOME! So did I, in major and for the fall of 2012.
I applied November and got it referred to the college in the beginning of this month.

Did you do Nuclear Engineering? And what is your gpa?

Yea, umm total is 3.56. My I took college algebra through calc I in high school with a teacher that wasn’t very thorough and that reflects on it.
I’m hoping that the fact I’m finishing my AA in a year will also appeal to them greatly.

I applied to the college of engineering as well, but I’m a Electrical Engineering major.
Does anyone know if admissions look at your total gpa or just the pre-professional gpa?

Good luck! My gpa is a 3.6, so we are similar applicants. Especially since we are both nuclear. I wish you the best of luck, my friend! I am also finishing my AA in a year, hopefully as you said that will appeal to them

I think that they look at both overall gpa and pre professional gpa.

Oh wow we have so much in common. I’m also hoping to graduate with honors and am taking credits right now.
I think you said that you called them in… what number was it?

just call the admissions at 352-392-1365 then choose option 1 three times and just tell them you want to check your status, they’ll ask for your UF ID number and they’ll tell you what they see on their computer… if you ask more questions, and if they’re in the mood they might dig a little deeper for you… ask things like, do you know what’s holding my decision?, any idea of why it’s taking this long? am I missing any materials?
I used to ask that until somebody finally told me who was the person holding my app and transferred me to her, and she told me exactly when she was going to send my app to my college for final review.

Once it made it to my college I called the college adviser and she mention it was more than one person looking at it, that’s like a mini group from the college that looks at all the apps. she told me 10-15 days, but they did it sooner.

Got this from last year’s thread.

Is this what you did?

I called the admissions department and then they gave me the number of the engineering school. I called the person who deals with nuclear engineering transfers and she said they won’t notify us for another 6-8 weeks.

Ok that’s pretty much the same thing I did, except she said we probably won’t get notified until May.

I had a friend actually go to UF and make an appointment with one of the advisors from the college of engineering, who is part of the transfer admission process and she told him that decisions would be coming out soon after march 31st.

I had also applied to the college of engineering 3 weeks ago. Today they sent my application to my college for final review so i guess i have to wait a few more weeks… I applied for summer B…

again, that’s all depending on how many prereqs have been completed

@ collegetransf

How many pre prof courses have you done so far?

I have done cal 1, 2, and 3, dif. Equations, phy 1, and phy lab. Im currently taking chem 1 and phy 2. I dont need chem 2.
My pre prof gpa is 4.0 so far…
My app was sent to the college of eng. For final review 4 weeks ago.

I called today and they told me they haven’t reviewed my application yet and that summer b applicants should expect a decision by may 1st.

So i received an email today. The advisor told me all applications will be reviewed by may 3 and notifications will be sent by may 17th! Thats for engineering summer b term.
