Applied Behavioral Analysis job

Hi!

I am a sophomore at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, majoring in BCN (biopsychology, cognition, and neuroscience - a BS degree). I was on the pre med track in college, but now i’m not so sure. I’ve come to realize that though I’m doing a BS, i’m not sure if I want to go to medical school. Therefore, I haven’t taken common classes like orgo or physics. Most of my classes are neuroscience / psychology based.

I was thinking of applying to graduate school for behavioral analysis in Michigan (I’m from here and I want to stay local - grad school out of state might be pricy!) and according to what I found Western Michigan University is a pretty good graduate program for that. I specifically wanted to become an ABA therapist (autism therapy), but before I go into that path, I want to make sure that this is a secure job field in terms of financially and job availability.

Since I’m just an undergrad right now, i’m not sure if I should apply to the masters or PhD program. Though they both seem challenging to get into, I was hoping to get into the PhD program right after college because a higher degree could bring more success.

I would truly appreciate some honest feedback in this area! If someone would know how the job availability is in Michigan or even in the midwest, if Western is an appropriate school, or if ABA itself isn’t a stable career.

Sorry for all the questions and thanks so much!
