Applied Mathematics College Chances

Hello all,

Could you chance me? I want to get a degree in applied mathematics. Could you chance me at these schools?
MIT (we can dream alright  )
Harvey Mudd
Rice
NYU
Wisconsin - Madison
U of Minnesota - Twin Cities
Duke
U Penn
Urbana Champaign

My stats are this:
4.400 Weighted GPA
4.0 Unweighted
31 ACT (going to take it again)
Captain of the Quiz Bowl Team, President and founder of the UN Club, VP and co-founder Math Club, Captain Debate Team
I have numerous awards in all of the aforementioned programs.
I am peer mentor at my school.
Let me know if you need more info

Please keep in mind that I am a junior in HS. What should I improve on? What are my chances RN? Thank you all so much!

-Dream on

MIT and UPenn are crapshoots for everyone, but you’re definitely qualified.
Harvey Mudd, Rice, and Duke you have a good chance.
Everywhere else you’ll get in no question.

Thank you @annana!

Work on improving that ACT!
Harvey Mudd, Rice, and Duke are also very competitive, with acceptance rates under 15%. You shouldn’t rely on them. You’re competitive, but not a shoe in. It’s very possible you’ll be rejected from all 3. I personally know somebody who got into stanford and MIT but was rejected ED to Harvey Mudd. I know somebody who got into UChicago but was rejected from Duke. Rice I know less about.
You’re competitive, but I wouldn’t put all my chickens in one basket. I see you have safeties but would you be happy attending them? Just something to think about.
Sorry for all the negativity! You truly have done a lot and some great things I just hate to see when people say you have “good” chances at schools with super low acceptance rates. At that level, they’re all very hard to predict.

@Coldsummer123 Thank you so much! I really appreciate the genuine help! Aside from the ACT, what do you recommend fixing?

@DreamtoInfinity It doesn’t look you need to fix a whole lot. You could get started on your essays and write kick ass essays, that’s super important. Are you doing something meaningful over the summer? Like a job, research, etc?

@Coldsummer123 Working with a prof., volunteering at a hospital, taking a night class at the community college. etc… What do you recommend?

" I know somebody who got into UChicago but was rejected from Duke."

Duke has been more selective than Chicago for eons. It’s only in the last couple of years that Chicago has ramped up its selectivity by soliciting thousands of applications from unqualified students.

My D had very similar stats (GPA slightly higher) and ECs and is a Math major. She did not get into any of the five schools with less than 25% acceptance rate, although she was waitlisted at three of them (Bates, Middlebury, Colby, Vassar, Barnard). I’m not sure you will get accepted at the majority of the schools you list. From what I gather, an ACT of 32 puts you in a different “category” in admissions for a lot of schools so I’d be trying to get to that threshold.

@NEPatsGirl Ok, I will make sure to work on that

Good luck DreamtoInfinity, there’s nothing wrong with a 31 either! You’ll get in where you are meant to be

Whatever you think is meaningful! All that matters is you do something
@NerdyChica that wasn’t the point…

Thanks to everyone for your feedback! It is much appreciated

Bump

Update - 32 Composite
34 Superscored
Reeval Please?

Nice  Drastically increases your chances on your list IMHO.

@NEPatsGirl Thanks Appreciate it!

Any other opinions?
