<p>I am a parent who has pushed the envelope as far as Admission and Fin Aid decisions go. I say you should in an extremely polite fashion contact Amherst Fin Aid and explain why you didn’t play be the rules every other applicant for Fin Aid did. If, for example, your parent just lost his/her job, and Amherst WANTS you (something you will never be able to discover in detail), they might talk to you. But your approach and reasons must be polite, fact based (not I was too stressed out to apply) and you must be ready to meet EVERY request they have ASAP. good luck. remember, there is still money out there…</p>
