I have some questions about applying to Master's Programs as an American history major! My main concern is GPA. I started in a community college and graduated with an Associates and a 3.3 GPA. I then transferred to the University of Washington, where I majored in American History and graduated with a BA and a 3.88 GPA. Will the schools focus more on my GPA during my time at UW, Community College, or both?

As for my GRE, I scored in the 90th percentile in both sections. I also have solid references from my professors. Outside of college work, I haven't done much other than an internship at a research museum and a month of foreign language study overseas.

With all of this in mind, what kind of school should I look to apply to? I would really like to get into NYU or Vanderbilt, but I'm not sure my credentials are quite good enough. Any insight?
