I am a history major in my senior year and had lots of questions about graduate school.

It wasn't till recently that I decided I want to become a teacher and obtain a masters program in NY (preferably CCNY or Hunter's college) and was wondering what are some good EC activities I can partake in, in order to have the best chance.

Sadly my GPA is on the lower end (3.07) with no EC whatsoever and wanted to get started as soon as possible.

Any suggestions or input would be useful. Thanks!

For an M.A.T. or M.S./M.A.Ed. it is highly unlikely that the college/university that you would be applying to would give a rip about any ECs. They are interested in your GPA, your GRE (or other exam that they require) scores, your letters of recommendation, and your statement of intent.

However, since you now believe that you want to teach, you should find a way to get yourself into a classroom at the grade level and in the subject area you would like to be certified in. Check around at the schools that you can get to easily, and find out about setting up a regular classroom volunteer shift.
