Hey guys, Applied to UPenn, UColumbia, Cornell, MIT and Georgia Tech.
I got SAT II MathsIIC - 710 (SAD)
PHY - 740
Chem - 750

Gave SAT I in Jan....Expecting above 2000.
Now I wanted to know if not applying for Fin Aid in UPenn would boost my application or not..??? Coz if it does boost and gives me good chance then i would rather not apply....although it would be a constraint but i guess my parents would manage....

Also, I have good EC's participated in many school and interschool activities and won a lot of them. Essay is also reasonably good and all recommendations are way above average i guess.... Please tell me to apply for fin aid or not...???

GPA/ School grades from 9-12?

Class 9 - CGPA 7.8 (Top 10 %)
Class 10 - CGPA 8.6 (Top 10 %)
Class 11 - 60% (Top 5 %)
Class 12 - 83.8 % (Top 10 %)

Financial Aid to these colleges (at least the ivies), is not based on grades at all. It is just based on your need.
Since you already applied to the colleges, do you remember if you checked the option for financial aid…
You should have decided while filling you application whether or not you want aid.

And yes, not applying for aid would be an advantage…these colleges are not need-blind so international students who apply for aid are put into a much more selective pool.

But there isn’t much you can do now if you already checked the option for aid. Could consider contacting the colleges though, in case you don’t want aid now.

@Conscience13 spoke to my parents…they agreed reluctantly…Any idea what do now…I mean how to revert to a a normal candidate…??? and is it possible…???

I don’t know if it is possible…best way to find out is by contacting the financial aid office. Since it is a pretty urgent matter, you do better call than email.
