apply now or later?

my sat is good so i think i should get my application in now without the ACT i'm taking in september

my sat is
m:720
cr: 620
w: 680

my gpa is a 90 out of 100 so its basicly 3.5

by the way- marketing major for fall 2010

1340 Sat…why wait?

Why are you taking the ACT?

Isn’t a 90/100 more like 3.6/3.7?

i’ve always heard 3.5 but if its a 3.6 or 3.7 i’ll take it!

I have no idea, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I was thinking along the lines that an A- is a 3.7, and most schools consider a 90 to be a (low) A-. Then again, since that 90 is an average, your grades in the 80s would be counted as 3.0 or 3.3.

I think the most accurate way to calculate your GPA would be just to calculate it from scratch, not try to convert it. If you have your transcript available, you can post it here or PM it to me and I can calculate it for you or you can do that yourself.

Use CB’s table:

A+ (97-100) = 4.0
A (93-96) = 4.0
A- (90-92) = 3.7

B+ (87-89) = 3.3
B (83-86) = 3.0
B- (80-82) = 2.7

C+ (77-79) = 2.3
C (73-76) = 2.0
C- (70-72) = 1.7

D+ (67-69) = 1.3
D (65-66) = 1.0
E/F (below 65) = 0.0

i don’t think i can really go wrong counting it as a 3.5 because if i assume the worst while hoping for the best, the worst thing that can happen is that i get into some schools that i didn’t expect to.

Whether you apply now or later you still have phenomenal stats that will get you in. Just apply by November.

Last I heard, Pitt wasn’t counting the writing portion.
