Hello all,

I'm pondering whether I should apply to B Schools this coming year or wait until I get more experience.

I graduated in 2012 and have been working as a Technology Consultant for about 2 years. I had a lot of ECs in college, but not much after college. (2 internships, a few jobs, was on board for 2 organizations).

Haven't taken the GMAT yet, but got 660-680 on practice exams.

I want to apply to B School Top 20-40 this coming year.My goals is to get into General Management with a retail chain/services company and/or Consulting.

However, I'm not sure if I should wait until I get more experience (maybe with other companies/industries) and then apply?

Any thoughts?

2 years is fine. Up your GMAT scores and apply to a top 15 (there are about 20 of those schools). Another alternative is a PT MBA at Booth or Kellogg (maybe Haas; maaaybe a few others). Where are you located?

Take your GMAT asap and take a prep course. Try to score 700+
Most private B schools cost the same, so go for the top ranked and you have more options. Consulting that pays more decent generally recruit from the top 15.
You can wait till next year if you need time to prepare for tests and essays. Don’t rush into it. The average B school student is 27 years old.
Apply early in the cycle is best.

Thanks all!

I can definitely try to improve the GMAT although I only have about a month left until I have to take it.

I am in the DC area. I am mainly looking at full time programs. However, I would like to apply for Part Time programs (ie NYU, UC-B etc.) if they are top ranked.

You can fly in to Chicago Booth’s weekend program. Do the other good PT programs (like Haas & Stern) have weekend options? I’m fairly certain Kellogg doesn’t.
