Apply to Pomona and Pitzer

Is there any advantage, or disadvantage, for my son applying both to Pitzer and Pomona? I was wondering if anyone knew the admission departments take there on admissions to more than one of the Claremont Colleges

thanks in advance

The colleges do not talk to each other about applicants and the schools will not know that your son has applied to more than one of the Claremonts unless you tell them (they should not be asking). So go ahead.

My daughter is also taken with several schools on the Claremont Consortium, and will be applying to Pomona, Scripps, and probably Claremont McKenna.

Here's a thread when I asked some questions about them.

Also just take a look at the individual formums for each school - lots of good information about them there.

Many Claremont students considered multiple schools in the consortium. It's a reality that's supported by the administrations (joint out of town info sessions, staggered tour times, staggered scholarship weekends...I used to give a 5C tour during special events at my campus).

General consensus is that there's no advantage or disadvantage either way. It's quite normal :)
