Hi, I'm a high school senior applying to Cornell University. I want to apply as a dual degree student for Arts + Sciences and Architecture Art Planning, but they don't seem to offer that option. Should I just apply as one or the other? I know that it's hard to switch colleges once you're in, so I don't want to lock myself in one place because I really love both of them.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

It is not called dual degree, it is called double major.

See the link for more info.

You cannot double major outside your own college. You can take classes outside your college and you can minor in something outside your college.

Sorry, it wasn’t a dual degree. It’s a concurrent degree-- is this something that I pursue once I’m in or do I apply for it now. If so, how?

Again, you cannot major in anything outside your college. You can, however, pursue a major in one college and a minor in another.

I have never heard of that program! From the looks of it, if you get admitted to Arts and Sciences you can apply to that program between your freshman and junior year, although it is a 5-year program. I’ve never heard of anyone doing that, but I guess it appears to be a possibility!

I would actually call the admissions office on this to make sure you get the right info.

Thanks, everybody! I think I’ll apply for Arts and Sciences and then see where it goes.
