Double Major?!

hey : )
although the results are not released yet...
i am a little fantasy-lover who is already planning out my life at cornell.
pretty sad huh : )

anyway
i 've applied as communication major to CALS.
at a case of admission, i'd like to learn something else in other colleges as well.

For example... I am interested in psychology major of the CAS school.

Is it possible to inter-college double major?

: (

thank you!

actually, i asked the same question during my info session and they told me its not possible. i know, it sux.

but u can still get minor...

you actually can, but in rare cases only. VERY rare cases:

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/402371-double-majoring-between-two-different-colleges.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/402371-double-majoring-between-two-different-colleges.html</a></p>

I happened to have done a lot of research on this. I was going to do the dual degree program (bioengineering (college of engineering) and music (CAS)), but later changed my mind and am now doing double major in bio and music after transferring to CAS. My original advisor told me that, although it has been done, a dual degree is rarely accomplished because different colleges have different college requirements (CAS requires that you take 120 credits in it), and it usually takes 5 years.

I actually planned out my schedule for my future semesters, and found out that, because of my numerous AP credits, I only needed 4 years. The reason I decided not to do it was because I wanted more flexible schedules for courses I really wanted to take (like French or Composition); the dual degree program, especially with CofEngineering or CofArtsPlanning, really restricts possibilities, which means you probably can only take calsses in the two "major core curriculums" and that's that.

then i guess only human ec people cant double major....cause that is what they told me at the info session

You can, but it's a really, really bad idea. You have to fulfill the requirements of BOTH colleges you're "in" in order to do it. Which is a whole freaking lot.
And there's really no practical use in having degrees in two completely unrelated fields anyway.

You cannot double major between a contract college (CALS, Hum Ec, ILR, Hotel) and an endowed college (Engineering, Arts, and AAP). I know of the existence of the dual degree program between endowed colleges, but that is at least 5 years (for engineering and Arts). So, the answer kind of is no. Although, most colleges you can double major within the college. (I know in Arts, Engineering and CALS you can, not sure about others)

You don't necessarily have to stay at Cornell for five years. I know someone who's double majoring in Art & Art History (AAP & Arts and Sciences) who will graduate in 4 years. But again, WHY? It's totally worthless and a waste of your time. Just don't. If your primary interest is communication, then major in that and take a few (or a lot of) psych classes. But don't go through with earning a psych degree if you're already earning a comm degree. It's just totally useless.
