Well, can one apply next year as a freshman given that he/she has enrolled in another college for his/her first year ?

If you are already enrolled in college, you cannot apply the next year as a freshment. In addition there are only a very very small number of schools that have financial aid for international transfer student. Unless you are transferring to one of the 8 schools that re need blind to international students and meets 100% demonstrated need, apply with the mindset that you are going to be at the college for 4 years.

Thank you, but I still want to have more than one opinion on the topic.

Once you have attended college anywhere, you normally are considered a transfer applicant. The most common exceptions to this rule are:

1) The college courses were taken while you still were enrolled as a high school student.

2) You completed less than one full semester worth of credits.

Even if you start to attend, and then drop out before any credits are earned, you still need to provide a letter from your old college stating that fact, as well as any academic transcript that was generated by your enrollment.

Each institution sets its own policy about who can be considered a freshman applicant and who must be considered a transfer applicant. You really do indeed need to contact each of the colleges that you are interested in, and ask them what their specific policies are.

Please be aware that it is entirely possible that a college may require you to apply as a transfer but accept so few of your academic credits that you need to spend at least four years there in residence in order to complete your degree.

These are facts. Not opinions.

I’m asking because I know a couple of people applying that way, one of them was even in an American university.
