Applying as a junior level transfer -- How important are SAT scores honestly?

I am interested in applying for transfer admission at Brown however I have never taken the SAT I or SAT II tests. I graduated from high school in 2004 and have been employed full-time for the past two years. I am interested in applying after two years at my current college however I read that in regards to the SAT scores and transfer applicants:

“If you did not take any standardized tests as part of the application process to your current college, you must request a waiver from Brown in writing. It should be noted that an application to Brown without results from a standardized test may be detrimental to your chances of admission.”

The word that frightened me there was “detrimental”. I will be much older than the majority of the other transfer applicants along with the fact that I have had two years of full-time employment under my belt before I even began college. Will the lack of SAT I and SAT II scores truly put my chances in the garbage??

I would imagine that most people applying to Brown probably haven´t gone through your situation or if they even post on cc. So you´re ptobably not gonna get a whole of lot of responses here. So I don´t really know much about transfer stuff, but if Brown says that it´s detrimental, why not just take the SAT I & SAT II´s now? Or skip that and just take the ACT instead? I think it´s possible to take standardized test scores after being out of high school for a few years. But I´d check with collegeboard.com or act.org first.

Call and ask. If you're 25+ you can look at the RUE program. Unfortunately, Transfer Admissions has tightened a lot in the past two years, a loss to the school which can hopefully be fixed.
