Applying as a Transfer Student

Hi all!

I am currently a junior in high school, but I am enrolled at the University of Cincinnati in their post secondary program. This program allows me to take part in college classes so that I may get my gen eds out of the way, while simultaneously receiving high school credit. For example, I took English Comp last semester, so I do not have to take that level of English as a freshman in college, and I filled out an English req for my high school grad reqs. I am also taking four other classes.

However I have a very important question! I’ll be applying to colleges this fall, and I’m wondering if I’ll be applying as a New Applicant, Freshman Applicant or whatever you term it as, or will I be applying as a Transfer student, seeing as I’ll be trying to transfer my post secondary credits?

I’m only asking because I know specifically that ED freshman applications for OSU are due Nov. 1, but Transfer apps are due at a different time. If anyone could clarify for me, that would be great! I’d appreciate it!

As a general rule, freshman applicants include all who take any college courses while they are still in high school. You do not risk becoming a transfer applicant unless you take college courses after finishing high school.

@drusba Thank you for the clarification!
