ok, so i hear from Colgate in 2 weeks, and if i for some reason dont get in, im gonna send off applications the next day. heres where i would go, in order, after colgate

i still dont feel as though i could get into those schools 100%. heres my stats

i would like to be in the Northeast/Mid Atlantic. i could go down to maryland or virginia im sure, but probably not the South. schools kinda like SMU or Rhodes maybe? but with decent reputations and in the northeast. i was schools people have heard of

Your other options are all solid; think Lafayette & Trinity more like Colgate than Lehigh in student demographic. If you think Colgate's iffy, so will all of these schools with the possible exception of Dickinson. You should also look at Gettysburg, Franklin & Marshall, Colby, Bates, St. Lawrence and possibly Villanova. If you want to look in the Midwest, look at Kenyon, Denison and Macalester.

nope, Austin, but Dallas is a pretty cool place

i know theres about 100 tiny schools in PA, but id rather stick to ones that people have heard of. im sure theyre fine schools, places like Muhlenberg and Ursinus, but id be happier with a place like Lafayette, or even Gettysburg

Tcolgate - your gpa and sat scores are a little light for several of the schools on your list, so you are smart to look into some less selective options. And there are some very good ones. I would definitely investigate these:

Mideast: Franklin & Marshall, Allegheny, College of Wooster
Midwest: Lawrence, Knox, Kalamazoo

F&M is pretty tough, I think. I would consider as safeties Ursinus, Susquehannah, Hartwick, Juniata, Hofstra, Manhattanville, FairleighDickenson, Rider, Widener. A match might be Gettysburg. If you are male, some of the former all women's colleges such as Wheaton, Goucher are also good possibilities. If you are female some of the all female schools are a good bet. Also check out Mary Washington and St Mary's in MD. American U in DC is also a good one to check out. A number of the Catholic schools would also be worthwhile such as Manhattan College, LaSalle U, St Josephs, Scranton, Stonehill. Fairfield would be a slight reach though the geographics would be on your side.

Since there's no such thing as a safety school, of course apply to Miami of Ohio. And I also like the suggestion of Richmond. F&M has an extended application deadline of March 1st, so you can put that option on the back burner if need be. I still think that Gettysburg would be a strong possibility for you. They have an ED II option that may interest you.
