Applying Early Decision?

I really want to go to Bucknell University, so it would seem to make sense for me to apply there ED. However, it's one of the most expensive colleges in the country, and I'm afraid that if I apply ED, I won't get a good financial aid offer. I come from a high-income family, by the way.

Are any of you applying ED? If so, where?

Does ED affect your financial aid offer?

Why would one apply to a college ED?

Thank you!

well you apply to college early decision because it’s the college that you know you want to attend most. the decision comes back sooner and it helps to show interest in the school. i don’t think that applying early affects financial aid, but if you don’t get the aid that you need, you’re still under a contract to attend school there. i also think that bucknell offers need based financial aid, and if you come from a high income family, then you might not get aid.

and no, i don’t think that i’m applying early decision anywhere, because i’ll probably change my mind five times before i feel comfortable.

You can reject an ED acceptance if the financial aid isn’t sufficient.

that’s not what i meant.

i actually meant that you can’t apply early decision anywhere else, and he’ll have wasted the opportunity.

and you have to wait until the beginning of january to apply for federal aid, and while that happens a bunch of app deadlines are passing. by the time you’re accepted, if the school doesn’t cover all the aid you need, you have like no options left.

My parents love Bucknell and tell me that they are willing to pay, but I would really like to get some financial aid because Bucknell IS very expensive.
