<p>I am looking for opinions on when it makes sense to do Early Decisions.</p>
<p>Please tell me why and when you think that early decision is a good idea.</p>

<p>One should only apply ED to one’s first choice school. It’s binding. If one applies ED to a school that is not a first choice and gets into one’s first choice, one still has to go to the ED school. Well, either go or face the wrath of one’s counselors and probably have no one be accepted from one’s school for several years.</p>
<p>But if you ask for financial aid with ED and the school’s offer is not enough to support attendance, you just say thanks but no thanks without consequence, and apply RD elsewhere.</p>
<p>But in general, apply ED to the one dream school above all others.</p>
