Applying ed, buying a ticket to hell?

Let’s say applied ed , needed a massive amount of financial aid and got accepted. If I couldn’t take the remaining as a lone (or couldn’t pay for it at the time) and the aid wasnt enugh. Can I drop the ed and go for another school as reg app?

If you prove to the school that you cannot attend because of financial reasons, even after financial aid is factored in, then you will be released from your binding ED agreement and will be able to attend another school that you are accepted to.

However, if financial aid is a concern, it’s usually not a good idea to apply ED. You don’t get to compare offers, and if the school thinks they’ve met your need, but your parents don’t agree, it may not be easy to be released from your ED. Your GC --who more than likely advocated for your ED acceptance – also may be ticked off at you and may feel that your backing out may adversely affect the applications that other students from your school submitted to that school.

^ This is very true. It is generally a bad idea for someone with a lot of financial need to apply ED, given the inability to compare financial aid offers.

yes you can drop ED. but it is generally not advised as mentioned above
