OK so here it goes…
I’m a recent Canadian high school graduate (class of 2013) & I will be starting university in a few weeks here in Canada. However, I would still like to possibly go to school in Boston at Boston University. I visited the campus last year & I really liked it but for certain reasons, didn’t end up applying for Fall 2013 admission. My only option now to attend BU & still graduate with the rest of class of 2017, it to apply by November 1st for BU’s January 2014 admission (they are one of the only American schools I know that offers this sort of admission entry option). I already called the admissions department & they said that if I had less than 12 credits (?) from a university I can still apply as a freshman (not a transfer) which is great, but I’m wondering whether any credits/hours I gain from my 1st 4 months at the Canadian university would count towards my degree from BU (that is if I get admitted in the 1st place!). Also, let’s say I do get in and decided to attend, is it more difficult to make friends & get on-campus freshman housing, when you come in half way through the year? I know some people actually got accepted for January, even though they applied for Fall, so I wouldn’t be the only new freshman on campus, but I’m scared I’d be a bit behind since the other January admits would anticipate all of this & make friends beforehand, whereas I won’t even know if I’m admitted until November/December! ANY kind of further information on BU’s January admission in regards to housing, social stuff, & of course academics would be GREATLY appreciated! I’m kind of hanging onto a string here because this is my last chance & I’m running out of time, so thank-you for any help in advance!

Can you and your parents afford $44,500/year tuition? BU does not give need based aid to internationals and merit aid for transfers is very limited.

Yes we can thankfully & the only merit aid available to international students in the 1st place (which I’m guessing is for September Freshman applicants) are the Presidential & Trustee Scholarships, so I wouldn’t be counting on those anyways. Any other help please? :)
