Your chances are pretty good

Hi there!
Im hoping to transfer for spring 2014 (obviously i guess lol) from my community college into the school of management for marketing.

Unweighted GPA in HS was 3.62 and my current college GPA is 3.675. I had a ton of ECs from high school (technology and digital arts president, forestry club treasurer, GATE club leadership, Swimming team, etc) and as for college I’ve had two volunteer positions (SPCA and Project RIDE)on a regular basis and I’ve been a marketing intern for an ecommerce business since this summer.

I’m wondering about my chances and if I should send in my SAT/ACT scores? My best SAT score was an 1860 and my best composite ACT was a 27. Im not sure how much weight this bears on their decisions for transfers.

I appreciate any and all advice, and good luck to all other transfers!

you don’t have to send SAT scores when you apply as a transfer if you apply with more than 30 credits. if you don’t think your SAT score or ACT is good enough you don’t have to send them.

sent my application in today, feelin good.

Chances?

I’m coming from a top 50 University with a gpa of 3.61
Great teacher recommendation, 26 credits, great essays.
Didn’t put too many activities. I wrote that I play for my university orchestra, community service, Lifeguard & Red Cross Volunteer.

Currently taking 16 credits and my midterm report was: A,A-,B+,B+, and C+…

Also, I am applying to the College of Communications and that I hope to transfer to BU because my current university does not offer a major that BU does.

I applied to yesterday.

3.65 from a state school with 32 Credits (14 in progress)
mid-term report A, A, A, B+ = like a 3.8ish
specified my essay specifically to BU
decent E’C’s

i am just wondering how did y’all send the mid-term report?

^^by mail.

I got accepted today. This thread seems to be inactive though.

My roommate got accepted today! Just an FYI for those who have not heard yet, admissions told her this morning before she checked that batches of decisions were coming out today and next week! So happy for her, but so sad to see her go.

Congrats Dentrix! I’m applying for the Fall and I am unsure of my chances. I have around a 3.3 cumulative, but in my major i have around a 3.8. I am utterly confused on what they would look at.

Feel free to PM me !

I was accepted yesterday as well!

My stats:
HS GPA: 94 (we did it out of 100, don’t ask me why!)
SAT: 2130
Subject tests : US History: 650 ; Biology M: 730
Current school: Tulane University
GPA: 3.48
Current year: sophomore
Accepted to: School of Hospitality Administration
EC: theater, dance classes, assistant choreographer for children’s theater, staff writer on college and high school newspapers, Campus programming board, university honors program, Sleepaway Camp counselor job, volunteer intern at independent bookstore, intern with fashion PR company (worked at NY Fashion Week)

I am currently on a semester long full time internship at the Walt Disney World Resort. From my experience here I’ve decided that I’m extremely interested in the Hospitality field, but Tulane doesn’t offer Hospitality Management as a major. My essay discusses all the reasons why I’m interested in transferring to study this new subject based on my experience working at Disney.

Congrats! Hopefully my gpa is competitive !

Has anyone else heard any news since the first round of accepted decisions, and apparently 1 rejection?, went out?

Does anyone know what time they send out decisions? I heard it’s usually on Fridays…

I have been watching this thread for a few weeks yet I haven’t posted.
However, I was recently accepted (found out yesterday)! :)

For those of you who haven’t heard anything, I would just keep checking your link account. I only found out yesterday because I logged into my BU link account like every day haha. I didn’t get an email or anything about being admitted until today even though my decision was already out.

Anyways, my stats are:
Current Year: Junior
HS GPA: 4.5~4.6
Current School: West Virginia University but also attended George Washington U.
GPA: 3.5
Admitted into BU’s College of Art’s & Sciences…interested in pursing neuroscience.

For those admitted, anyone have any information on the best dorms? Filling out the housing survey but I’m not sure which ones to list…

Hey guys i was accepted last week, and I was wondering if the financial aid information they gave us is by semester? I know they give it for the spring semester but does that mean it will be renewable for the same amount each semester?

JusPhys,

For merit aid, you are guaranteed that (assuming you meet all the requirements) for the rest of your time at school. However, for need-based aid, your award will be redetermined every year. So it’s not guaranteed to stay the same. Awards are yearly, so the amount you get for the spring semester may not be the same they give you for Fall 2014/Spring2015. It’s all determined by your FAFSA results, aka your parent’s income from the previous year.
