Applying for fall of 2010 Cornell

I will have an interview for at Cornell next Friday. I’ll try to get there early and take a tour around school of Hotel. Just finish buying everything a suit, shoes, belt, tie.

I just came to realize, Cornell CALS (AEM) is actually extremely hard to get into…even if you have the grades since everyone who’s applying has those same grades if not better…
I just lost all my hope…I know my essay isn’t going to be anything special…I’m feeling pretty down… :(

hongkong, realize you can only try your best and see what happens. Don’t feel down, be optimistic!

on the less positive side, you dont have much to lose. If you do not get in, then apply next semester. And if not then, then next. You were granted 4 chances to get into Cornell (fresh, soph trans, soph trans, junior trans) so use them to your advantage!

weirdon - the weather’s been beautiful! and actually next friday is dragon day, so if you’re free when stuff goes down, definitely come out and see what’s going on

hongkong - if you know your essay isn’t anything special, i strongly suggest making it special. you’re admitting you know what’s wrong but you’re not doing anything about it. you still have time to change it

Hey, someone mentioned that had an interview. What was it about? For ILR?

Thanks a lot for the info Iron, I definitely will check it out after my interview.

Is there a GT for transfers who apply as a transfer?

^yes there is. It’s an option, but i have not seen anyone on the past threads get it, but I would GLADLY accept one

@justone: my friend got accepted with full aid for 4 years
@ironicallyunsure: u like the accent??? awwwww it’s weird that my friend always made fun of my accent when i first came here. now after 3 years in California, i have californian accent and they all miss my old accent haha

I wonder if Cornell will extend the deadline this year.

^^they did last year? to what date?

Were any of you waitlisted in high school? Do you think that counts for much? I’m a freshman now and they did not take anyone off the ENG wl last year and I don’t know what to think.

Is everyone mailing their letters in this last week before the deadline? I overnighted it in Monday and it still hasn’t been “checked” off. Each day that passes is a potential white hair for me in the future.

@ azonic, they’ll take their time processing stuff. They especially take a long time scannign the transcripts because of all the fancy graphics in them. Don’t worry, if you’ve sent it out by certified mail or smth, they should have it.

@azonic: Dont worry  On the website, they say if after the deadline and your files are still checked off by missing or whatever, they will give you time to submit them again on time. I submitted everything last Friday and nothing is checked off yet (except the common and supplemental app)
@steeze: they extended to March 31st, but the same thing will not likely happen this year, so send your stuff before March 15th!

What’s the reason they extended the deadline? Not enough people applied?

WHAT! THEY EXTENDED THE DEADLINE?! Ah!

Last year! Anyway, I’m not too certain if extension is a good thing. Results will be out later!

ah! haha! sorry those words just jumped off the page at me before I had a chance to comprehend what was going on.

Hey! I didn’t understand. What is Cornell’s supplement for ILR transfer applicants? Anyone applied, what is the topic of it. In ComApp Supplemen the topic is why particularly this major, right? But in web I’ve found this topic for ILR applicants: “Describe your intellectual interests, their evolution, and what makes them exiting to you.”
