When would the freshmen application forms be out online for the 2007 school year?

Including evaluation forms which you need to download and print. I am trying to get them ready early, Thanks.

I believe they'll be on line in August.

Is it going to be on Caltech.edu?

I don't seem to be able to find any info about this on Caltech.edu though...

admissions.caltech.edu -- there'll be a new application link by the end of summer.

Oh, that late?

Even though I have my summer fully scheduled to push myself to demonstrate what I can do, and I would put my heart to it. I am still afraid about the fact that there would be only 2 month(Sep & Oct) to prepare for the app packet. Is there anyway that we can get a feel for what it is and prepare for it before hand, that is, are all the essay topics gonna be the same? If so, can we get it somewhere, I know this sounds weird, but my English is pretty bad, in order to write a good essay, I really need some time, so, anything possible? Thanks.

The two essays have been pretty standard in the past -- while the precise wording may change, we have tended to ask something like "What makes you right for Caltech? What aspects of your intellectual and personal character made you decide that this is the right place for you to study?" and the second question is to either (a) Describe an experience that has been significant in shaping you as a person. or (b) Describe an activity not in math or science that has been important to you.

I can't guarantee it'll be the same next year, but if you think about those kinds of questions you will have something that you can shape into an application essay.

Btw, this year's applicants, if I incorrectly said what we asked, correct me. I mostly read the answers, not the questions.

No, that's it. And then there's a box that asks you to fill it with something interesting. Be sure to have fun with that. :)

I was looking around the Internet, and this might be the online application, but I don't know how much it will help you, since it's probably not going to let you sign up, and even if it does, it won't be updated for this year since it's so early.

Actually, you can still download the Fall 2006 app as a pdf. I did some time ago. :-)

Note how under "FRESHMAN ADMISSION, FALL 2006" it has no links and just says "The deadline for Fall 2006 has now passed. Applications are no longer being accepted."

Thank you all, you are all so nice! T.T(in tears)

Feedback and other such things -

I remember that I found caltech.edu to be nicely scripted but rather unnavigable and thus frustrating. :-P

When freshman app for class of 2011 is up, there will be a little banner that says that the application is available. Sometimes it is a dead link even though it claims otherwise. Eventually, it will stop lying and the Blue Fairy will turn it into a real hyperlink :)

Didn't read close enough. Seems they took it down sometime between ~March and now, because I have the 06 freshman app.

Perplexitudinous, what kind of format is it in? Can you send it to me?

I'd be happy to send it to you, but it's not really anything to worry about at this point. The first 6 or 7 pages repeat information available at the web site. The next four pages are just for basic information/starting the application (including test scores, if you know them). There are four pages which go over course information (what you've taken/are taking in high school), activities, work, and app essays. The rest are evaluation forms for teachers & counselor, and a mid-year school report.

and the essays ben told you were exactly what they were this year and that is honistly the only thing you can prepair for. The only other thing you can do is ask a teacher to write a letter or rec over the summer for you and have it ready next year and then you can hand them the form and have them attach the letter. Everything else you don't have to worry about it takes an hour or so to fill out and it is all just information you can't change.

I see, thank you for telling me about the rec letter.
