I am a Junior in CA and I still have not taken SAT/SATII/ACT
Im leaving it all for Senior Year.
When I took a practice SAT, I got a 1800 which is horrible. I HATED it. But when I took a practice ACT I actually did well (30). Note that I had not actually prepared for either exam.

So my question is:
Can I get into Berkely if I only submit ACT scores w/ writing + SATII??? Or will they see me as lazy for not taking SAT? I am going to study really well over the summer to get my ACT score up. I am aiming at a 32-33.

Please. Any comment will help.

If it makes a difference, I am in the top 10% (not top 5%) of my class. I go to a top public high school. My weighed GPA is a 4.057

Thank You

It makes no difference. Just pick the one that suits you better. Still, I do not understand why you are even mentioning a score you received without preparation. Such score simply does not indicate anything, not even whether you might be comfortable with the test format after more practice. SAT score is a lot about taking tests again and again, so that you develop strategy and learn how to solve problems which are in essence repetitive. Please, don’t base your decision whether to take SAT or ACT just on one score. It might not really do you good.

You should take both. They’re most likely to only consider the “higher” of the two after adjustments.

I had a similar issue with the SAT, took the ACT, got a 33, and everything ended up fine.

Take both, you don’t have to submit both. UCs these days find the ACT a better measure and are preferring it over the SAT. You’re still stuck w/doing 2 SAT IIs. I used ACT over SATs b/c I had a much better ACT.

BTW, it’s “Berkeley”!

Yes you can. I took the ACT and SAT II.

One year too early. If you were a sophomore, you would no longer need the SAT II tests and could submit just the ACT. UC changing its requirements but only for applications for Fall 2012 entry and beyond.
