Applying to biology major?

if im applying to a biology major am i an applicant for a Bachelor of Science degree? if so how many teacher recs do i need?

if im applying to biology major
am i automatically applying under Bachelor of Science degree?

yea u need 3 i think

you are not automatically applying for a ScB, you could go for an BA in bio, and would only need 2 recs. It's what I did last year. Well technically I applied as a double BA in Bio and Classics.

iwannabe_Brown:

I want to double major in Bio and Classics too! Do you have AIM? Would you be willing to chat with me?

can i just go for BA when applying only to a bio major?
cuz i dont wanna double major in classic or other major like you did.
and also, i dont wanna get 3 teacher recs.

i think so. if its under list of BA concentrations then u can

BA concentration?
what is that?

no theres a list when u apply, that lists the concentrations under BA and concentrations under BSc
if bio is in both, then u can say u're applying for bio under BA or BSc, whatever u want

BA is straight up bachelor's degree, it might be an AB here actually, and I am not going to actually get a formal degree in classics, I will just take the occasional class here or there.

does anyone know if biology is under BA ScB or both?

its on the app. u doing the online one? cause it says so real nice and simple there... its should be on paper too, but thats just harder to find...

Ok look, there are two bio degrees, AB and ScB. AB requires 14 classes, ScB requires 20. Here are the requirements for ALL concentrations: http://www.brown.edu/Administration/Registrar/concentration.html

Do yourself a favor and just put AB on your app. Its not going to matter what you write down for now.

And you aren't "applying for" a bio major. As long as you get in, you can do whatever major you want. I seriously doubt what major you indicate on your application has that much bearing on your admissions decision, either.
