Applying to Boarding School 10th or 9th

I’m reapplying to boarding school and I think that I will get in this time but I have the ability to apply for 10th grade year or 9th grade year. I will have to retake ninth grade beautiful I can because of my age. It’s just that three of my closes friends are going to boarding school and I would want to be in the same class as them, what should I do?

I can’t lend you advice, as I don’t know much about you as a person, but I can lend you some insight. From my experience, my friends who came in as new lowers to Exeter (sophomores) had a hard time assimilating to Exeter’s academics and atmosphere. To a point, they didn’t really find friend groups as quickly as the freshmen had, as many friend groups are already pre-established by the end of the first year. I’ve talked to a few of them, and although most had fully assimilated by the end of lower spring, some had the feeling that they were somehow lingering behind the rest of the pack.

New preps (freshmen) at Exeter have a pass/fail term during the fall term, so they don’t have to worry about grades. I’d recommend retaking 9th grade if you’re more into a “fresh start” kind of thing.

Sorry about the vagueness in this “insight,” and some grammatical errors, but I can go into more detail tomorrow, or in the future, if you wish.

No thank you this helps a lot.

By starting a boarding school as 9th grader just like most do, you can enjoy less demanding life.

There will be relatively more relaxing opportunities for making friends and more time for adjusting to a new environment. The benefit of starting as a 10th is pretty clear. Less tuition.
