Hello, I am looking for people currently going through the admissions process at boarding schools. I am a sophomore looking to apply as a repeat sophomore, so if you're like me I would love to get a response from you about it. Otherwise, no matter which grade you are, I need advice. I am completely confused about which schools take which school reports and recommendations and I am hoping not to have to ask my teachers multiple times for recommendation repeats. Because it is already awkward enough as it is, asking a high school teacher to recommend me to another high school. Also, is the school report a recommendation or is it something I fill out on my own?

Basically, I need a method that will allow me to ask my teachers once for recommendations and allows me to photocopy these recommendations and send them to any amount of schools I choose. I was thinking TABS was like this but then I saw Exeter had a whole different configuration. Please tell me if there is some simpler way to accomplish this! I feel completely overwhelmed and rushed! There are so many online accounts I have to sign up for, for each school. Please fill me in on your experiences! Thanks so much!

Well I’m applying for 9th grade this year and I’m using the SSAT online application. The offices photocopy them for you and distribute them to the schools for you. But the TABS works too just photo copy the forms and I 'm Exeter accepts it but if you want give the Exeter application to your teachers then give them the TABS application for the rest of the schools. Hope I helped.

Usually, the teachers recs are confidential-- you do not get to see the teachers’ responses; the teachers will send them directly to the school or via the guidance cousellor. As the rec forms from different schools will be similar, there are efficiencies for the teacher to cut & paste responses for one form onto another, so I would try to give them all the forms at the same time.

The school report is filled out by the school guidance cousellor or school administration. Again, I think the protocol is that the school report gets sent directly from your school, not from you, so they cannot be tampered/edited by the student.

I was nervous too but I explained to them that I was applying for boarding school and needed a rec. My teachers we’re pretty cool about it but if you want you can get a parent to call your teacher or write a letter to your teacher explaining why you need a rec. Hope I helped!
