I am currently a senior in High School and am applying to Carnegie Mellon since it repeatedly appears near-top on undergrad financial engineering or Quant Analysis rankings. I understand that I will have to go to get my masters after undergrad if I really want a quant job.
When applying to Carnegie Mellon through the CommonApp, my understanding was that financial engineering (or whatever it must be called for undergrads) is under the Tepper School of Business. The only option for “Department/School”, however, was “Business Management”. Seems kind of strange, should I be applying to one of the other schools?
As well, what exactly do undergrads do for this program? Is it really more of ‘setting up’ for the masters program?
Also, after doing some more research I also see “Carnegie Mellon Computational Finance”, and for undergrad it says it is done as follows “This degree is offered jointly by the Heinz School of Public Policy and Management, the Mellon College of Science and the Tepper School of Business.”
So which school do I apply to? And other info I need to know about this? Thanks.
