Applying to colleges after 10th grade

Hi,

I am studying at a school under a British curriculum. I gave my O level exams (an exam given after the 10th grade). So now, I am in 11th grade.

So can I apply to colleges without completing my 12th grade, with just my O level results, SAT & TOEFL?

Some colleges offer an Early Admission program designed to allow students to matriculate immediately after the junior year of high school (11th grade). See, e.g., [Admission > Application Plans](<a href=“Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University”>Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University) The requirements can be a little tricky and require advance planning, which you’re doing. As a general rule, these types of admission programs are for kids who prematurely exhaust the curricula available at their HS. Applicants compete in the same applicant pool as high school seniors.

There are some Early Entrance programs targeting highly gifted students who need college-level work at an earlier age. See, e.g.,

Outside established “early” programs, you will have to approach a desired college directly and show unique circumstances.

Some colleges/universities in the US will accept students who have taken O level exams, but who haven’t taken A level exams. You need to read through each institution’s website to find out what the specific requirements are for international applicants. You should read through everything at [EducationUSA | Study Abroad, Student Visa, University Fairs, College Applications and Study in the U.S. / America](http://www.educationusa.state.gov/) and then make an appointment with the counselors at the advising center closest to where you live. They can help you find good places to study in the US.

Be sure to continue to work on your English as well. Teachers give examinations. Students take examinations.

Wishing you all the best.
