Applying to combined med program

Hi,

I am planning to apply to various combined BS/MD programs

Here goes:

Currently a Senior
Cumulative GPA: 97 (on a 100 scale)
The highest GPA in my class is probably around a 98
Class rank is top 5% (highest)
My school doesn't rank 1, 2, 3 etc
All honors classes. School doesn't offer AP except for AP Calc which I am taking now

Community college credits in gen chem 1 and public speaking, anatomy and physiology 1 and 2

sat: Old sat 1520 (760 M 760 V), New sat 2150 (740 M, 710 V, 700 W), sat 2 bio 710, sat 2 math 2c 780
if you consider the highest of all my sat 1 scores, I have a 2220 (760 M, 760 V, 700 W)
I'm retaking sat 2 bio and sat 1 and I will take the sat 2 chem

ECs (not my strong point but I think they're ok):

Academic team- 11, 12
Mock Trial-Alt attorney 10, witness 11, 12
HOSA (health occupation club)- 1st place states in creative problem solving-11 and competed in national competition, 12 (only offered in 11 and 12)
Math League- 9, 10, Officer 11 and 12
NHS- 11 and 12 (offered in 11 and 12 only)
Newspaper- 9, 10, Chief photographer- 11, Health section editor- 12
World Language Honors society- 12 (offered in 12 only)
Latin certamen team- 9, 10, 11, captian 12

Varsity tennis- 9, 10, 11, captain 12
Hospital volunteering- 9, 10, 11, 12
Completed research project on benefits of certain diagnostic tests for myocardial infarctions (heart attacks) 12
Violin orchestra- second violin 9 and 10, first violin- 11 and 12

I hope my ecs dont hurt me. After seeing some people with 50 million ecs its a little disconcerting. But I heard that dedication is more important so I hope they consider that.

I have a few awards here and there but none are too special or distinguished

So where I want to apply: all UMDNJ med programs (Rutgers, TCNJ, drew, stockton, etc), drexel programs (Lehigh, drexel, Monmouth (NJ)), rochester 8 year, BU 7 and 8 year, GW 8 year, Union/AMC 8 year, PSU/Jefferson 7 year, Brown PLME 8 year, and a couple other med programs (feel free to suggest any). I have no preferences but I would like to get into a UMDNJ med program because I get full scholarships at all NJ undergrad colleges.

bump...............

I can't say as for your chances, but those look like excellent ECs to me. Lots of people don't have anything nearly that good.

Your ECs from Varsity tennis to violin Orchestra should be emphasized more than the ECs above that. Those ARE great ECs. The "laundry list" of clubs will not really help much, unless you are the president of one, so I wouldn't really emphasize them. I love the old SAT score, and the new SAT is still good. Combined med programs are difficult to get in to but if you can show your interest in a positive way, you will get in. Also, I really the Research project. Great job!!
