I've been kicking myself for not applying to LSE after being accepted to a similar program at UCL, so I've decided to bite the bullet and apply. Are chances of funding slim at this point? I'm not applying to IR; I'll be applying to a program in International Political Economy.

Hey Intaglio,

International Political Economy is one of the easier programs to get into...however, I read somewhere that LSE gets about 70% of its applicants by January 31st. It could be worth the try, though. If your stats are high enough, they might accept you anyway.

If you're an American, however, your chances of funding are slim to none, regardless of when you apply. I was accepted to LSE 2 weeks after applying (in January) and didn't receive any funding...I think the handful of other Americans I know that were accepted didn't receive funding, either.

Best of luck if you decide to apply!

Any idea why it's easier? My research/academic interests center around Eastern Europe, and reading through the department's website the program seems to be a very good fit for my interests.

Oh, I lied. I was thinking of Economic History (which has something like a 36% acceptance rate). Whoops. IPE has around a 20% acceptance rate...if you look at the graduate prospectus, they tell you exact figures for each program. In this case, the accepted 94 out of 477 applicants.
