I’ve heard in other forums people applying to multiple SCEA Colleges (for instance, Yale and Princeton).
How stupid! Aren’t they caught? If they are using CommonApp, doesn’t CommonApp report them?
I consider their counselors an idiot! But seriously, how did they violate without getting caught? I thought these schools cross-verify the list of applicants to straightaway reject the applicants who violate SCEA and ED terms. Does it only mean, that until anyone reports them to their enrolled colleges, they are free to gain an unfair advantage?
@skieurope
I thought for sure at least the Ivies shared a list of their ED/SCEA admits.
They might think that’s their plan, but no counselor worth their weight will submit a package to 2 SCEA schools, and an incomplete application will not be considered. If, by chance, a students does manage to successfully submit 2 SCEA apps, the college will rescind any acceptances. It’s not a question of if the student will be caught, but when. The downside is just much too great to even consider this as an option.
They will be caught, eventually, and it’s not worth it.
- It is dishonorable.
- If caught it would jeopardize your applications at all SCEA schools.
- As noted above, no guidance counselor should send school records to more than one SCEA/ED school.
Thank you for all your answers. I’ve applied SCEA to only one school (my dream school).
