I got an email stating I meet all of the requirements for NHS and I have leadership roles and all of the other stuff. My only problem is last year I googled the answer for a lab and my teacher found out and I only got like 2% on the lab, no other actions were taken, my parents were never notified (I didn't tell them either), they told me unless it happens again they won't be. Will this come up when I apply to NHS? I obviously won't be using that teacher as a reccomendation, but I don't want to get a rejection letter stating I was rejected for bad character leaving my parents wondering. It's also a lot of work to apply, getting the volunteer hours and all that.

This isn't really something I need people saying why I shouldn't have cheated, I know that and I don't have any excuses, I did it and it's over.

I got rejected from NHS and they didn’t send a rejection letter or tell me why. I just assumed it was because I didn’t have leadership.

Really? So it must just depend on the school if they send a rejection letter out or not.

Nope, that probably won’t come up again. However, each school does NHS differently so I’d ask around within your school instead of on CC.

I would but I’m an online student, it’s hard to ask around. I think I might just go for it. I have a hard time believing it would go on my record without my parents not being notified.

NHS admissions are (usually) conducted by a committee of teachers at your school. Your admission will likely be contingent upon whether or not the teacher who noticed your academic dishonesty is on that committee.

At my school everyone who was invited got in. Is it a lower acceptance rate in your state or just your school?

@Murtillon well we aren’t even invited at my school; you just apply if you think you can get in. It’s like a third of the class. NHS chapters are just locally managed.

If the teacher took no further action, and the administration wasn’t notified and/or agreed to let it slide, it will likely not affect your NHS chances.
