I’m currently a rising junior who intends on applying EDI to NYU for the class of 2024. In my applications, I was planning on sending in my ap scores for APUSH, environmental science, and psychology, as I know that I can score either a 4/5 on all of them and have more confidence in the ap exam than the sat. However, there’s little to no information online about applying with ap scores as opposed to sat scores, and even though NYU is test-flexible, I don’t want to do anything that could potentially mark me as a weak applicant and jeopardize admission.
As an incoming freshman going to NYU CAS who gave them no AP I can assure you that the most important part of the NYU app is the essays.
^ seconding kpukpagirl I applied ED1 (class of 2021) with 2 AP scores and my GPA was 3.9 unweighted, and didn’t have a ton of extra curriculars (but a couple of pretty strong ones). But my essays were really good. I definitely think my whole application was riding on those. I know people that didn’t get in with way more APs and a better SAT than mine (I had a 1430) because their essays were very weak. But also, 2024 is really far away, things could change a lot in 2 years for you. Just take all the advanced classes you can handle, get involved at school and extracurriculars, and put thought and time into your essay.
Your question is premature. You can consider this next year, once you have actual SAT (or ACT) and AP scores.
@Squilkey can you give me some advice on the why nyu essay?
