I am a parent helping my daughter to get into BYU-Provo. I heard that if we apply to other church schools beside BYU-Provo (example BYU-Idaho), and if these other schools accepted the applicant first, that BYU-Provo will reject less qualified applicants even though they would have been accepted if they were not accepted by other church schools first. The reason given is that since BYU-Provo has such high application volume that they prefer to put those already placed in other church schools on lower priority. Is there any truth to this? Appreciate any feedback, I am so new to this. I apply to BYU-Provo and other schools at the same time (which I think is normal) and would probably expect other schools to accept my daughter first before BYU-Provo and I am concern about this rumor if there is any truth to it.

I don’t think this is true. It shouldn’t make a difference.

The acceptance or denial of your daughter at the other school doesn’t make any difference at all one way or the other in her acceptance/denial at BYU Provo. Was told this by an admissions representative.
