I’m currently a middle schooler in Texas. I am looking for recommendations for summer programs or school year programs. I have attended John Hopkins’ CTY and will be applying to Exeter’s summer program. I am currently researching Stanford’s summer program so if anyone has information on that please let me know. I am willing to take tests, essays, recommendations, interviews, etc… (basically anything). If anyone has any tips about applying to Exeter and Andover or boarding schools in general please let me know.
So you’re applying to bs summer programs or boarding school itself? They are two completely different processes.
thanks for your reply :)! I am applying to both but right now I am looking for summer programs and tips for application process. sorry if it was unclear!
If you’re interested in the curriculum or experience at Andover/Exeter Summer then by all means go for it! However, I will caution you that it likely won’t make a difference in your applications, if that is the intention.
ah ok! I was looking to see if I would fit into those schools since I didn’t want to make a commitment without experience you could say! but tysm for your tip!
Andover ESummer was actually one of the reasons my son applied to BS the next fall. He was impressed with the level of instruction.
I agrée that the summer programs are good to “test the waters” of a school. I did a virtual summer program at Lawrenceville last summer, and like @ameridad’s kid, it made me want to apply to boarding school. it’s ironic that i’m now going to lawrenceville’s rival school….
Yes, and my son chose a different school than Andover. The school whose summer program fits best is definitely not necessarily the best fit for actual boarding school.
Yeah, maybe the summer program might be more of a “is BS as a whole a good option for me?”
