applying under a school

i am currenty a junior in high school and i'm planning on applying under the Wiess School of Natural Sciences because i have really strong sciences and i go to a specialized science school.
However, I'm also considering computer science, and i am going to take AP computer science next year.

i was wondering when i would switch colleges if i wanted to switch to a computer science major under George R. Brown School of Engineering? also how often to students switch schools and how easy is it?

Super easy. You’re admitted to Rice, not the Weiss School of Natural Sciences. Admissions will view your application through the lens of your school of interest, but you could use that essay to explain your current interests. You should have a good reason to apply to one over the other. But should you be admitted, its no big deal to switch between the schools. You actually wouldn’t even need to really officially do that until you declared your major.

ok that’s what i thought but just wanted to make sure.
and when do you have to declare a major by?

thank you!!

You have to declare a major by the end of your Sophomore year. You have plenty of time to decide and you can always change your major later on.

alright sounds good thank you!
