Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius recently announced the appointment of Smith alumna Christie Hager '86 as a regional director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
And there are probably many more appointees to the administration quietly laboring in the lower levels who you never hear of, there are thousands of political appointments made in each administration, most people only hear abou the higher level ones like Julianna Smoot, the new social secretary; or Farah Pandith, the first ever special representative for Muslim Affairs (she got her start in politics from Barbara Bush!)

^^Oh, yes, S&P, I didn’t mean to ignore them. I’m sure there are many, many Smithies in this administration and in previous ones at all levels keeping all aspects of government moving. I had heard about Julianna Smoot, but I didn’t know of Farah Pandith. Interesting!

Well, not quite the same thing, but D had lunch in the White House mess with a former boss last week, said boss having an appointment in the administration.

White House mess is fun!
