Smithies in politics!

I guess all those government majors over the years are paying off! Here's an article about Stephanie Cutter, a top adviser to President Obama, and a couple of other key staff players with Massachusetts connections.

Also, the other day I received an email press release from the Obama campaign from Julianna Smoot, Deputy Campaign Manager, who I know is a Smith alum. The press release offered an Obama mug or T-shirt with his birth certificate on it; on one side there's a picture of Obama with the words "Made in the USA" below and on the other side a picture of his birth certificate. As she says, "If the facts can't make these ridiculous smears go away, we can at least have a little fun with it." I like that attitude! :)

Do you mean the “Certificate of Live Birth”? ;)

Democratic Wisconsin Congresswoman, Tammy Baldwin '84, is running for Congress for the seat vacated by Democratic Senator Herb Kohl. I knew she was running but I didn’t know she was a Smithie!
