<p>For the community essay, how lenient is Michigan in terms of letting applicants use more/less words? My essay is currently at 269 words, and I'm a bit worried that that is too long.</p>
<p>The general rule of thumb is that ±10% is fine if they give you an approximate length. So as long as you stay within 225 to 275, you won’t have to worry.</p>
<p>My community essay was over 350 words. Don’t worry about it.</p>
