For the UMich Ann Arbor “community” essay, it says the length should be “approximately 250 words”. What does “approximately” mean in context. Can it be more than 250? My essays 268 words; is that okay? Thanks!
OMG i’m so sorry. I should’ve just used the CC search instead of Google to find an answer for this. People say +/- 10% is good, so 225-275. Just thought I’ll leave this comment here in case any other Fall 2016 applicant else had the same question.
They do not count the words. The limit is 300. I recommend no less than 200.
I would err on the conservative side and aim for under 250.
They really don’t care. At the end, there’s a limit and you can do nothing but write up to 300. If what you write over 250 words will really help in reaching your point about the community, go ahead.
