April 1: Admissions Decisions via EMAIL

Wow JC* it sounds like your D absolutely adores Pep!

Pep's my first choice but I'm still waiting on the email, of course, and also financial aid. I've gotten into a few other private schools, and they have given me a good amount of scholarships and grants, so I'm hoping I'll get around the same amount at Pepperdine.

I was talking to one of my friends who graduated from one of the other private schools I applied to and she brought up a good point about the financial aid. I believe it stays the same throughout all four years, however, tuition goes up a little every year. Her boyfriend actually attended Pepperdine (he graduated a year ago), and said that they discussed it...apparently Pep's tuition goes up a LOT more than other privates. Do you have any info on this? Or have you been affected by the tuition increase every year?

I understand that the economy is at a low point right now and people are even saying that we might go through a recession. Now I know that privates, Pep in this case, are not funded by the state of California...but I know that there have been many cuts on public school funding that will be in affect the next fiscal year...I don't know much about economics or anything, but I assume that it can possibly affect privates?

Sorry to go off topic...

First, yes she does love it. As far as financial aid, we did get an increase in aid when tuition went up last year, not sure about next year, haven't received our numbers. She has a very good packet, but we still pay/loans a portion.

I know that it is a goal of Pepperdine to try to increase their financial aid pool. I am not an economist, so I can't tell our how our current crunch will affect private schools. But I can tell you the rich are getting richer in California and those are the people the privates touch for support!

Good luck! And if they offer less than the other schools and it is still your first choice, talk to financial aid.

tick... tick... tick...

Good luck, everybody!!

Are decisions for sure being emailed out at midnight pst?

No clue. I'm on eastern time so I'm 3 hours ahead of Cali time.

I am tired of waiting...

good luck to everyone, hopefully next year at this time i will be squirming for my acceptance letter!

i highly doubt that they would send the emails past midnight. i would expect them tomorrow morning...but then again, who knows! gosh, it seems so close!!! i've been counting down the days...but now it just seems..aah! so nerve wracking!

i don't want to get ahead of myself, but if you guys get in, will you attend the admitted students weekend? i heard its pretty much like the preview day, which i attended, but i bet it'll be ten times better just because we'll know if we're in or not! :P it'd be awesome if we all actually met....although this depends on what we get in the our inboxes tomorrow...but still!
goodluck to everyone!!

It's approaching.... And I don't think they are gonna unleash the decision right past midnight too. But the miserable waiting is almost over. Good luck again to all applicants!

8 AM here, the time difference is killing me! I have to work until 3 so there is no way I can check my email until then. Good luck and God bless everyone~

It's approaching... Good Luck!!

Does anyone know if we are looking for emails at 8am PST? I thought perhaps admissions would sent out notifications starting at 8am EST?

Good luck to all the great students and their families on this board!

just spoke with admissions. emails are going out in waves and are in progress at this time. all emails should be delivered by 5pm- not sure what time zone the 5pm ending time is designated. so anytime now!

It seems as though all the emails from Pepperdine have come late in the afternoon (pacific time). Was there a time they specified for today?

Thanks, shutterbug312, emails going out in "WAVES"!

that is hilarious.....I didnt even think about the "waves" connection to Pepperdine....!!

anyone else going crazy when theres STILL not an email?

yes ky! I am a transfer student so I am already out of high school. I wish I had something like class to keep me busy all day. Instead I am just glued to the computer...waiting. :)

5 pm Pepperdine time means 8 pm for me :(
