Anyone else headed to Brandeis on 4/10?

Anyone staying overnight?
If so, I wondered:

How many parents are going?
Where’re the best/recommended places to stay?
Where’re the best places to have dinner?
Anyone else attending/having a kid attend a scholars dinner? Any idea how long the dinner’s slated to last?

My D’s excited about going, but refuses to post on CC. She actually thinks I’m addicted. I’m not addicted! I can quit anytime. No really – I can! sigh

We went......two years ago and it was worth the trip as it became the deciding factor. Gives you a chance to get to know the place and its people that a typical visit doesn't.

Assuming that they run this the same way they did when we visited, you'll have an extensive list of classes from which to observe. We managed to sit in on two. There is an academic fair in the gym where faculty reps from every department are available to answer your questions. It's a bit of a zoo with too many people angling for positions in too little space, but if you remain persistent you'll get your time. There's an activity fair where you can talk to student reps of clubs you're interested in.

Places to stay: the Doubletree in Waltham is the most comfortable. In the same price range, there is a Marriott in Newton. For the budget-minded, there is a Holiday Inn Express, which is more spartan but perfectly acceptable.

Scholars' dinner runs around 2-3 hours, IIRC. Rubber chicken, but, again, a good chance to meet faculty and some of your future classmates.

Have fun.
