Illinois is going to have the writing next year, but not Colorado. Michigan, which will be doing this kind of testing for the first time next year, will have writing too.

Not that it helps you guys this year.

colorado here too!

i got a 29 (31,28,29,27) ... sucks how its gonna be on my transcript X[

I'm in CO, and I got, to my surprise, composite of 35. 34E, 34M, 36R, 34S. I was REALLY surprised about the math section. I couldn't finish it when I finished early in almost all my practice tests, and I had to guess on 4-5 questions. Strangely I still got 34. Must be luck. I was actually worried about the science section, when I got 28 or so on the practice test, but my practice paid off.

Too bad I have to take again because there wasn't an essay. *^&%!

bepiozo and Ray, where in CO do you guys live?

congrats on the scores, btw :)

Hey Ray192, Congratulations on your ACT score!

Which prep books did you use and what were your practice test scores?

Thanks

I got a 28 on this one. I also took it on the 8th and got a 25.

This time's scores:
28 Composite
30 Math
30 English
29 Reading
22 Science

If I could just get my Science part up, my goal is to get a 30 if I do decide to take it again in the fall.

I am on the low end of the CCers, I received a 22. It sucks it is on my transcript. I will retake it soon hopefully and get at least a 27.

Hey, has anyone in Colorado who didn't do so well on the state ACT asked about the possibility of getting it taken OFF your transcript if you retest and do better?

As for Illinois . . . I think there you have the chance to retake it for the PSAE in October for free, but maybe that's only for scores below a certain threshold. Anyone know?

Yes, I was told you can retake the ACT in Oct (at your own expense) and then retake the PSAE in October - have to take both tests in October to count...no threshold to retest that I have been told, just a chance to raise scores overall, especially for a chance at Prairie State Achievement Award (noted on transcript-no $$) if you don't achieve it from April's state testing. Most schools accept the State ACT for admissions, but it does not include the writing portion (which may be needed)
I don't know for sure, but I assume the highest set of scores (either April or October) would then be recorded on transcript.

I believe that the highest score is what goes on your transcript. I plan on doing better on mine. I am quite suprised at my score, and strongly think it is a wrong report, but I cant really prove that or do anything about it, so best bet is for me to retake and hope to get a better score.

I'm living in Fort Collins.

PatrickK...check with your hs counselor.
I was told that you have to give your school written permission to release any official ACT score on transcript or to schools for admission that are in the hs's possession...I think the only score that is on the transcript will be the state achievement score from each subject test. I am in IL.
The PSAE booklet states "your best PSAE score in each subject (from either grade 11 testing in the spring or the grade 12 retake in the fall) will be recorded on your transcript, and the subjects which you earned a Prairie State Achievement Award will be indicated."
I read that to mean the ACT will not be put on transcript; however, some ACT scores do figure into the total PSAE subject scores for reading, math, and science only.

Also-I was reading one of your posts on another thread...it seems like you have really challenged yourself with some great course choices and achieved excellent grades/rank...don't dispair - I know you can get your scores up! Right now it must really suck, but try not compare yourself to friends/others, and if anyone asks...just say, "I hope to improve some by the time I apply." Actually, I think some people have already lied about their scores at my school, but oh well...I hate when everyone starts comparing their ACT scores...and really feel bad for my friends are are basically really good students and just did not do as well as expected/hoped for..... I can only imagine what it's going to be like (ugh) when offers of admissions start coming in next year.
Have you thought about a tutor/inexpensive class to walk you through the test and perhaps acquire some new strategies to improve your composite? I also found if I do practice tests just a week or two before the actual test date (one or two timed tests a day), my scores all improved - don't know if this would help you or not, just a suggestion.
Frankly, the past several months with AP's, SAT Subject tests, ACT's, PSAE, regular tests, projects, semester stuff/tests, endless high school "drama", etc, etc - I am about burned out for this year- I need a break....only eight more days!!! So, I am just going to work on improving my ACT score one more time later this summer and will take again in Sept. or Oct. because I need the writing option for some schools.
In the meantime, I look forward to a great summer with friends for fun, work, travel, and volunteer work.
Hope this helps.

I'm lucky. My school let's us choose individually whether to put ACT/SAT scores on our transcripts.

Xia (Ocatlc0de)....arghh to you. Beat me by 1 and you're still unhappy. I love how you post on my thread though. :)

34 (35M, 35E, 34E, 31S) Yay, up from 32. :)

I live in Lakewood =D

its not just patrickk...my school has this new thing where starting from our year, our ACT scores are going to be on the transcript. I doubt we have a say in that = /

I am almost certain they put ACTs on transcripts at my school. I know I can do well on them, it is just a question if I get the right report and how the setup is. By setup, I mean the testing conditions. Last time I tested, I was about 1 foot from each student (violated the Colorado Law), and the desks were about 1-1.5 square feet. The least thing they can do on a test is give us a decent working setup. I have scored 30+ on some practice tests. I am almost positive I scored better than the 22 they said I received the other day. I was pretty much confident on 90% of the questions, yet I end up getting a 20 on science (was thinking it was my best section) and a 23 on English. A friend of mine at school received a 33 on science, and he said he pretty much guessed. This is more than a coinsidence (sp?), I have a strong feeling Collegeboard is reporting false numbers. But there is nothing that I can really do about it, I just have to live with it and hope to do better next time and move on. Thanks for the comments,
Pat

i got a 30, but judging from everyone else here, that seems to be just a bit below average :)

My school puts it on the transcript as well. I don't see anything wrong with it. Colleges will only consider the ACT score that you send them.

Patrick, there is no use fretting over your score. Your best (and cheapest) option is to just take it again in October.
