April 4 ACT -------- Science

i didnt get to the last section but i still bubbled them all, ■■■ haha. how many questions should i get right on the science for above a thirty?

usually 5 or 6 questions wrong to get 30+

k hopefully i filled in the right answers for the last section cause i didnt have time to even look at it, LOL

I didn’t have time to look at a passage on the reading section,it was effing brutal

idk if i had to fill aimlessly at the end of the reading but definitely at the last few questions of math and science, which are my best subjects, i don’t know how that happened huh f that s

yea science is my best school subject but worst act section

It had to be conduction. I mean, look at it on Wikipedia. “Heat conduction is the transfer of thermal energy between neighboring molecules in a substance due to a temperature gradient. It always takes place from a region of higher temperature to a region of lower temperature, and acts to equalize temperature differences.” That’s exactly what happened. There wasn’t a “Conduction and…” , there was only a Conduction only. So it has to be conduction only.

What did everyone get for the “If an Oort cloud was found in another solar system without the spherical blah blah” I put it had no effect.

yea its conduction as long as it was talking about through the bar

no effect

I said it would explode and cause human extinction…that was a tough question.

I thought this ACT Science Reasoning test required more outside knowledge than I had anticipated via study and practice tests. I know this might be sad, but I didn’t know which of the four planets listed (Saturn, Mars, Mercury, or Earth) was the largest. I also barely knew the difference between convection, conduction, and radiation - at least, I didn’t know how to apply it to the question. That, and I barely had time for the last two passages. Yeah, I don’t think I got the 31 I was hoping for.

The science required outside knowledge. This made me a little mad, since I had been led to believe that you just needed to be able to interpret graphs and such. I did put Saturn, cell membrane, and conduction… but a good bit of my friends got those wrong because they didn’t know that. And why should they? It’s not supposed to be on there. I was really surprised with that lack of forethought on whoever made this ACT.

i put conduction…
and i put it weakened scientist b because if there was a small star w/o the shell found from the O thing (which is where the large orbits come from), then the small star didnt come from the O…scientist b said that small comes from large…

i think…haha too tired

Mathlord, it didn’t disrupt either position. That’s what the consensus I got was.

Was that one question subtract the weight of the balance and pencils or add them? I put subtract. I debated for a while… it was really confusing. It was the one about zeroing the scales.

i think i put subtract too

Saturn’s the largest.

I felt pretty confident about this science section. I felt like I did alot better than the first time.

Really, do not read the instructions. I took many people’s advice and just read the questions, then analyzed the graphs, and many of the questions seemd to be “Ah-ha!” trick questions.

i put subtract

the scientists were talking about comets and stuff and stars are a completely different topic so i chose neither

my problem was the planets, i reread the passage which ate up like 7 minutes to find the answer and never found it; unfortuantly i went with mercury which turned out to be the smalleslt of them all

yeah that osmosis question, and conduction lol i learned those from biology and physics,so i picked those answers before i even read the passages…yeah so i think you do need some outside knowledge in order to be successful in this section,i mean, even with the knowledge i had,i wasn’t able to finish the whole damn thing,i had to guess 3 to 5 questions :(

I felt like I really understood this science test. However, I didn’t finish two of the passages.

My first impression of Passage 2 (weights) and Passage ?(Scientist’s Opinion/space) were that they were difficult so I skipped them. Did I make a good choice? Were these passages harder?
