one of the reading questions about "Diane"
was she a neighbor of someone??
that's what I said, but I'm not sure..
and for the "smirk" question.. what did you guys put??
I think it was either amusement or prfound something.. but which one was it?

I don't even remember what the science questions were..
the last one.. fighting scientists.. it was harder that I thought..

yay! thats what i said. i think the area one asked about the whole fenced area but i dunno. what was the other question about the garden? we already talked about two.

I thought diane was the mom because it said like that the grandma and diane moved in or something and diane was embarressed with the color of the house... and it seemed like the only neighbor in the passage was that one other main lady

i think the question said "what is the area of the rectangular plot?" And the original description said "blah blah blah has 10x15 rectangular plot..." so i think the answer is 150. anyway, the wording was terrible on that question.

One the trapezoid area, you had to divide the trapezoid into a triangle and rectangle. The triangle had a hypotenuse of 8 and a leg of 5. Using simple pythagorean theorem, you found the second leg to be rt39.

The perimete was 39, so you now have

8+5+rt39+2x(the two sides of the rectangle)=39.

Solve for x and find the area of the rectangle and add to area of the triangle. This = 65.

the trapizoid is 65, 39 is perimeter given two sides 5 and 8, remaining is 26. Area of a trap= average of both bases* height. 26= sum of the two bases so the average is 13*5(height)= 65

It seemed too simple that you would just find the perimeter and subtract 3 but I couldn't think of any trick I was missing so I just put 47. Same for the area problem--I couldn't think that they would actually have a problem as simple as just multiplying 15 by 10 but I guess ya never know.
