Ok so we sign up to take our AP tests on Tuesday.

The pre-med related courses that I am taking right now include a math (statistics and calc) and biology. Now im unsure of whether to even pay the money for the tests because i really would prefer not to use the credits and just take them over in college.

AP bio isnt the same as intro to bio and if i were to test out and go onto sumthing advanced, i wouldnt have the foundation necessary. As for calc and stats...i like stats alot so i feel like it would be an easy grade for my GPA to retake intro level stats next year, calc just sux but same applies...i dont have a strong enough foundation.

Is it worth taking these tests, medical schools dont even like seeing you using APs for pre-meds...plus they really dont give u the same foundations as the courses you would take in college.

I wouldn't use them to pass out of classes in college, but I'd actually go ahead and take them anyway. It just keeps your options open once you get to college. If the money is a serious problem - I believe you can save about $30 apiece - then maybe think more carefully about it.

Taking the tests might also force you to study more, learn the material better, etc. Plus, if you're a junior or a soph, it looks nice for college apps.

if money is an issue... don't take them... you do not want to skip out on the first year of bio though... it's an easy A for someone who has taken AP Bio...

If you plan to be a bio major, take the test. At many schools, the intro bio you pass out of, is not even taken or nor can it be counted toward a bio major (the test credit would count as elective hours).

Take the tests so it can look good on ur college apps because colleges will expect u to have taken them and want to see what u get in them. It has nothing to do with being premed or not...noone will force u to use the credits once you get there. If you want to take the course in college instead of using the AP credits noone will stop u.

Take the tests. Intro bio usually has a harder curve than more advances classes, so even if you think you know it you can still get screwed. Plus you'd be bored to tears learning the same info again.
