APs=good college

people, lets say that a person takes 17 AP classes( for exemple) and gets allmost all 5-ves, and a good SAT scores too, is he garanteed placement in THE TOP universities and a full scholarship?

Absolutely Not. If you are talking about THE TOP as in Ivy schools, NOTHING "gurantees" admissions. Also, know that just because you take a lot of APs, that doesn't mean they look at you more favorably; most harvard admits vary fro 5 to 9 AP tests total. Now Classes, that might be a different story.

takes 17 AP's.... bad example

No, but taking that many hard classes will attract attention. I assume that's 17 over the course of high school? If it breaks down to something like 4 sophomore year, 5 junior year, 8 senior year...it shows a real commitment to academics. If that person earns 5's, which should translate to A's in the HS classes, that means they're taking a very hard courseload, which would then lead to a high rank. That, plus say a 2350+ SAT should earn a very good look from the lower-tier Ivies at least. Some schools, like Berkeley if you're in-state or NYU, will admit you on the basis of that alone. You will also have "match" status with schools like Chicago, JHU, Dmouth, Cornell, Northwestern, etc.

This is all assuming that your essays, recs, EC's and essays are solid-to-good.

well lets think about it people....who has every seen ANYONE take 17 AP's and gettign all 5. Dat's insane. They basically finished off what...a year or 2 of college. geez...i'd accept him ...

I've seen it done with 15 ap tests, 14 5's. My friend did it, got into MIT. But this was incl. his senior year.

My friend will have taken 19 APs in HS (he was homeschooled through 8th grade), and at our school all AP tests must be taken if you take the class, he has only gotten 5s so far, but junior year/senior year APs are awaiting scores.
