AP's necessary ?

I know that AP's will help you for your college credit and all but are AP's necessary to get into those decently top colleges?? (not ivies)..

as long as you have the EC's, scores , and letters,

It depends on your school profile. Are AP classes offered at your school? If so and you don’t take them, yes you will be dinged for not taking the most rigorous curriculum.

D mostly toured Top 50 LACs and a few non-Ivy nationals in the Top 20-40. Every one said the same thing - rigor, rigor, rigor which generally translates as APs, APs, APs if your school offers them.

^ exactly Mr mom. Daughter worked in admissions at her top LAC and that cannot be overlooked.

@AsianDoctor‌: As I recall (and I could easily be wrong), this isn’t your only recent inquiry re “shortcuts” to elite LAC and National Research University admission, is it? In fact, only about a week ago, didn’t you self-proclaim your moniker to be “Lazy Guy?” Inconvenient and unpleasant as it may be for you to accept, you can’t circumvent the “difficult, earned route” to first-tier undergraduate admission (unless perhaps – and this is rare – you’re a star athlete or your family recently donated a new building). Curricular rigor, very high grades and class-rank, outstanding standardized test results, excellent essays and recommendations, meaningful EC leadership, and so forth are what count – nothing more and ESPECIALLY nothing less. You either make the sacrifices, devote the time and effort, and invest the intellectual ability or you don’t. It’s that simple.
