Hey I’m a freshman this year and I’m taking AP US History next year and the teacher of the class (who taught World History this year) told the future APUSH students that it would be a good idea to buy an Exam prep-type book. Any recommendations? The one I’m looking at now is a Crash Course book

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Larry Krieger is amazing. I would also buy his Essential Content and pair it with your Crash Course. It goes in-depth enough for you to destroy the MCQ’s and gives you a lot of good pointers for essays and what to watch out for.

Larry Krieger is the best review book writer I’ve encountered by FAR. (Sorry Dr. Christian Sawyer, your Human Geo book just wasn’t that great).

^And how many review book writers have you encountered? I used The Princeton Review’s APUSH and it was pretty good! Do you know what textbook you’ll be using? You might be able to buy a review book that accompanies your textbook. “Preparing for the (APUSH) examination - to accompany The American Pageant, 13th and 14th Ap Editions” accompanied the text very well with even more detail. Both review books I’ve used have left me feeling very prepared, as I’m sure most will If possible I would take a look through multiple books.

I’m actually taking the test tomorrow! I’ve used Princeton Review, Barron’s, etc. but Crash Course and Essential Content are my favorites. They’re organized in a way that is very digestible and relevant to the test itself.

I found the others to, for me, be a tad too monotonous or filled with extraneous information.

I’ve heard AMSCO is also good (the book with the flag for a cover). We used it for class, but I’ve never actually read it so I can’t offer my opinion on it. For a winning coalition on the test, perhaps you could use Crash Course, Essential Content, AND AMSCO for review. :D
